One of my favorite elements to use in digital scrapbooking are overlays. I love how versatile they are. You can use them to clip your photos or papers, use them as stamps or erasers or you can just use them as is. A technique that I like to do is I duplicate, stack and move them around to have more depth and break that negative space. I like the clean look too but just to give it a twist, I experiment with the overlays. Here is a layout I made using Inscribed No.4. I clipped a colorful paper, duplicated the overlays and changed the colors. I like how it popped out against the dark background.
